A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to creating a position of nonprofit agency services
  coordinator for the Department of Family and Protective Services.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code,
  is amended by adding Section 40.0327 to read as follows:
         Sec. 40.0327.  NONPROFIT AGENCY SERVICES COORDINATOR. (a)
  The department shall designate a department employee as the
  nonprofit agency services coordinator to serve as a liaison between
  the department and nonprofit agencies that provide assistance to
  families in crisis.
         (b)  The nonprofit agency services coordinator shall assist
  nonprofit agencies in providing services and resources to families
  in crisis, including:
               (1)  temporary out-of-home placement of a child with a
  caregiver;
               (2)  transportation, meals, babysitting services, and
  other support services;
               (3)  furniture, clothing, and other household items;
               (4)  parenting education training; and
               (5)  mentoring programs, including programs for young
  adults aging out of foster care.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
