A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the definition of license plate. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 503.001, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subdivision (9-a) to read as follows: |
|
|
(9-a) "License plate" means any type of regular or |
|
|
temporary plate or tag, including replacement license plates and |
|
|
license plates with numbers or a combination of letters and |
|
|
numbers, made of metal, paper, or another material, that is issued: |
|
|
(A) by the department or a person authorized by |
|
|
the department to issue the plates; and |
|
|
(B) for the purpose of authorizing a vehicle to |
|
|
operate on a highway or another purpose authorized by law. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 504.001, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subdivision (2-a) to read as follows: |
|
|
(2-a) "License plate" has the meaning assigned by |
|
|
Section 503.001. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
