A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to selection of election officers for early voting. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 85, Election Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 85.0092 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 85.0092. OPTIONAL EARLY VOTING ELECTION OFFICER |
|
|
SHIFTS. (a) In selecting election officers for the main early |
|
|
voting polling place and any branch polling place, the county clerk |
|
|
may select a sufficient number of presiding judges, alternate |
|
|
presiding judges, and other election officers to enable the |
|
|
election officers to serve at a polling place in shifts. |
|
|
(b) In selecting judges and officers under Subsection (a), |
|
|
the county clerk may select a person to serve as a judge or officer |
|
|
at more than one polling place. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
