A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the adoption of instructional materials for the |
|
|
technology applications curriculum in public schools. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 31.023, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) In adopting the list of instructional materials for the |
|
|
technology applications curriculum, the State Board of Education |
|
|
must include instructional materials that cover the essential |
|
|
knowledge and skills for the digital citizenship strand of the |
|
|
curriculum for each grade level in which digital citizenship is |
|
|
required to be covered. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 31.023(c), Education Code, as added by |
|
|
this Act, applies only to an instructional material list adopted on |
|
|
or after the effective date of this Act. An instructional material |
|
|
list adopted before the effective date of this Act is governed by |
|
|
the law in effect when the instructional material list was adopted, |
|
|
and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
