A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the public accessibility of open-enrollment charter |
|
|
school annual financial statements. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 140.006(c), Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) The presiding officer of a school district shall submit |
|
|
a financial statement prepared under Section 140.005 to a daily, |
|
|
weekly, or biweekly newspaper published within the boundaries of |
|
|
the district. If a daily, weekly, or biweekly newspaper is not |
|
|
published within the boundaries of the school district, the |
|
|
financial statement shall be published in the manner provided by |
|
|
Subsections (a) and (b). The governing body of an open-enrollment |
|
|
charter school shall take action to ensure that the school's three |
|
|
most recent financial statements prepared under Section 140.005 are |
|
|
[statement is] made available in the manner provided by Chapter |
|
|
552, Government Code, and are [is] posted continuously on the |
|
|
school's Internet website through a clearly identifiable link that |
|
|
appears in a prominent place on the home page of the website. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
