A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to technical corrections for certain children. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 101.003, Family Code, is amended to read |
|
|
as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 101.003. CHILD OR MINOR; ADULT. (a) "Child" or |
|
|
"minor" means a person under 18 years of age who is not and has not |
|
|
been married or who has not had the disabilities of minority removed |
|
|
for general purposes. |
|
|
(b) In the context of child support, "child" includes a |
|
|
person over 18 years of age for whom a person may be obligated to pay |
|
|
child support. |
|
|
[(c) "Adult" means a person who is not a child.] |
|
|
(c) A child under Subsection (a) or (b) is "dependent on the |
|
|
court" if a court has asserted jurisdiction under this title and |
|
|
entered orders concerning conservatorship, support, or parental |
|
|
access after December 23, 2008. |
|
|
(d) "Adult" means a person who is not a child. |
|
|
SECTION 2 |
|
|
. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
