A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the duties of the Texas Veterans Commission regarding |
|
|
citizenship of veterans. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 434.026 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 434.026. CITIZENSHIP OF VETERAN. (a) The Texas |
|
|
Veterans Commission shall determine the citizenship status of a |
|
|
veteran in this state. |
|
|
(b) If a veteran in this state is not a citizen of the United |
|
|
States, the commission shall assist the veteran in becoming a |
|
|
United States citizen and facilitate the naturalization process. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
