A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an allotment under the public school finance system for |
|
|
certain students whose parent or legal guardian has been |
|
|
incarcerated. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 42, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 42.169 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 42.169. ALLOTMENT FOR STUDENTS WITH INCARCERATED |
|
|
PARENT. For each student who has a parent or legal guardian who has |
|
|
been incarcerated in a penal institution, as defined by Section |
|
|
1.07, Penal Code, during the school year for which the allotment is |
|
|
provided, a school district is entitled to an annual allotment |
|
|
equal to the district's adjusted basic allotment multiplied by 1.1. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
