A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a study on the impact of psychotropic medications. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY |
|
|
THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. (a) The Health and Human Services Commission |
|
|
shall conduct a study to determine: |
|
|
(1) the number of suicides of persons having been |
|
|
prescribed psychotropic medication; and |
|
|
(2) the length of psychotropic treatment completed by |
|
|
persons described by Subdivision (1) of this subsection. |
|
|
(b) Not later than October 1, 2020, the Health and Human |
|
|
Services Commission shall file a report containing the results of |
|
|
the study and recommendations for legislation with the governor, |
|
|
the lieutenant governor, and the speaker of the house of |
|
|
representatives. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
