A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a reporting requirement for public schools regarding |
|
|
instructional materials and technology. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 31.004, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsections (c) and (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) As part of the annual certification required under |
|
|
Subsection (a), each school district and open-enrollment charter |
|
|
school shall prepare a list that specifically identifies the |
|
|
instructional materials provided to each student by the district or |
|
|
school that cover each element of the essential knowledge and |
|
|
skills. |
|
|
(d) The commissioner shall adopt rules as necessary to |
|
|
implement this section. The rules must include the format in which |
|
|
each school district and open-enrollment charter school must |
|
|
provide the list required under Subsection (c). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
