A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to requests for certain information by the Office of Court |
|
|
Administration |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 71.035, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) In accordance with its authority described in |
|
|
subsection (b), the council shall request: |
|
|
(1) statistics related to reductions of state jail |
|
|
felony punishment to misdemeanor punishment in accordance with |
|
|
Section 12.44(a) and (b), Penal code, including the number and type |
|
|
of offenses for which courts sentenced defendants in under Section |
|
|
12.44(a), Penal Code, and the number and type of offenses for which |
|
|
court authorized prosecution of state jail felony offenses under |
|
|
Section 12.44 (b), Penal Code. |
|
|
(2) the number of defendants placed into pretrial |
|
|
diversion or pretrial intervention programs. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
