A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to timely public inspection of early voting rosters. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 81.121, subsections (g) and (h), |
|
|
Election Code, are amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(g) Information on the roster for a person who votes an |
|
|
early voting ballot by personal appearance shall be made available |
|
|
for public inspection not later than [the beginning of regular
|
|
|
business hours] 11 a.m. on the day after the date the information is |
|
|
entered on the roster under Subsection (c). |
|
|
(h) Information on the roster for a person who votes an |
|
|
early voting ballot by mail shall be made available for public |
|
|
inspection not later than 11 a.m. on the day following the day the |
|
|
early voting clerk receives a ballot voted by mail. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. |

If this |

Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
