A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to creating abbreviated educator preparation programs for |
|
|
certification in marketing and certification in health science. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 21, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 21.0444 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 21.0444. EDUCATOR PREPARATION PROGRAMS FOR MARKETING |
|
|
CERTIFICATE AND FOR HEALTH SCIENCE CERTIFICATE. (a) The board |
|
|
shall propose rules under this subchapter to create abbreviated |
|
|
educator preparation programs for a candidate seeking: |
|
|
(1) a certification to teach courses in marketing; and |
|
|
(2) a certification to teach courses in health |
|
|
science. |
|
|
(b) In proposing rules for educator preparation programs |
|
|
|
|
|
under this section, the board shall ensure that each program at a |
|
|
minimum requires 200 hours of coursework or training. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The State Board for Educator Certification shall |
|
|
propose rules establishing standards to govern the approval and |
|
|
renewal of approval of educator preparation programs for |
|
|
certification in marketing and certification in health science. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
