CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Court Reporters Association are |
|
celebrating Texas Court Reporting and Captioning Week from February |
|
9 to 16, 2019; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since the 1930s, the association has worked to |
|
advance the field of stenographic reporting through education and |
|
advocacy; TCRA is dedicated to promoting the accuracy and |
|
impartiality that are the hallmarks of the courtroom professional, |
|
and the group provides its members with a valuable forum for |
|
discussion and study; and |
|
WHEREAS, Court reporters undergo several years of training to |
|
achieve different levels of certification; they develop typing |
|
speeds upwards of 280 words per minute, allowing them to capture |
|
every word of legal proceedings; in addition, they are required to |
|
complete continuing education courses throughout their careers to |
|
ensure that they remain at the forefront of technological |
|
developments and that they have full knowledge of current |
|
procedures in their industry; and |
|
WHEREAS, Court reporters play a vital role in our nation's |
|
legal system, and this observance offers an ideal opportunity to |
|
acknowledge their important contributions; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby recognize February 9 to 16, 2019, as Texas Court Reporting |
|
and Captioning Week and extend to the members of the Texas Court |
|
Reporters Association sincere best wishes for continued success in |
|
their endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives and Senate. |
