HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than 90 years, Texas Southern University |
|
has played an important role in higher education in the Lone Star |
|
State, and while the school currently offers baccalaureate, |
|
master's, and doctoral degree programs in numerous schools, it does |
|
not have a divinity program or a school of religion; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby direct the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to |
|
conduct a study on the creation of a divinity program, from |
|
undergraduate to doctoral degrees, at Texas Southern University |
|
with a goal to establish a program before the start of the 87th |
|
regular legislative session; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official |
|
copy of this resolution to the chair of the Texas Higher Education |
|
Coordinating Board. |
