R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, East Texas lost a renowned civil servant with the
  passing of Judy Clifton Bowman Pitts of Nacogdoches on February 7,
  2018, at the age of 65; and
         WHEREAS, The former Judy Clifton was born on September 14,
  1952, in Nacogdoches to W. T. and Alma Clifton, and she grew up with
  the companionship of three siblings, Neal, Patti, and June; she
  graduated from Central Heights High School and continued her
  education at Stephen F. Austin State University and Texas A&M
  University, where she earned a degree in elementary education; and
         WHEREAS, In the course of her career with Child Protective
  Services of Texas that spanned more than four decades, Mrs. Pitts
  made a positive difference in the lives of countless children and
  families across the state; she served as the director of Regions 4
  and 5, and she received numerous accolades for her exemplary public
  service; named Administrator of the Year by the Texas Foster Family
  Association, she was also accorded the Team and Integrity Award
  from the Department of Family and Protective Services, the
  Children's Partnership Vision Award from the DFPS commissioner, and
  the Guardian Angel Award; moreover, she was recognized by the Black
  Adoption Counsel of Southern Texas and the Casey Family Programs;
  in addition to her duties with CPS, she dedicated her time to
  performing volunteer work, and she was an active member of First
  United Methodist Church; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Pitts enjoyed the love and support of her
  husband, Milton, and they shared a rewarding marriage of 27 years;
  she took great pride in her sons, Carson and Charley, and she had
  the pleasure of seeing her family grow to include a grandson,
  Bryson; and
         WHEREAS, An exceptional woman who devoted her life to
  children in need, Judy Pitts leaves behind a record of good works
  that will long resonate in the Nacogdoches community and beyond;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the memory of Judy Clifton Bowman Pitts
  and extend sincere sympathy to all who mourn her passing; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judy
  Clifton Bowman Pitts.
