H.R. No. 89
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Major General Robert J. Bodisch Sr. is being sworn
  in as commander of the Texas State Guard on January 26, 2019, and
  this is a fitting occasion to pay tribute to his long history of
  exemplary service to the people of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of
  the Texas State Guard for more than three decades, General Bodisch
  is currently the guard's interim commander; he has previously
  served as chief of staff of the Department of Public Safety and as
  deputy director of Texas Homeland Security, with responsibility for
  the Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division and the Texas
  Division of Emergency Management; and
         WHEREAS, In 1973, General Bodisch embarked on a 45-year
  career in law enforcement, starting as a deputy sheriff in Harris
  County; he went on to serve as a lieutenant investigator with the
  Harris County District Attorney's Office, as chief investigator
  with the Texas Prosecutor Council, and as senior criminal
  investigator with the Texas Attorney General's Office; and
         WHEREAS, General Bodisch was director of the Texas Narcotics
  Control Program from 1996 to 2001, and he subsequently served as
  director of education and training for the Texas Commission on Law
  Enforcement Officer Standards and Education as well as assistant
  director of the attorney general's Office of Special
  Investigations; he also completed two tours of duty in Iraq with the
  U.S. Department of Justice's International Criminal Investigative
  Training Assistance Program, earning the Joint Chiefs of Staff
  Joint Civilian Service Commendation Medal in 2005 and the U.S. Army
  Outstanding Civilian Service Medal in 2007; and
         WHEREAS, For nearly half a century, Robert Bodisch has
  dedicated himself to preserving the peace and protecting the
  citizens of our state and nation, and he may indeed reflect with
  pride on his outstanding record of achievement as he takes on the
  challenges and opportunities of his new position; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Major General Robert J. Bodisch Sr.
  on his induction as commander of the Texas State Guard and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued success in his important
  work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for General Bodisch as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
