R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Neches High School volleyball team reached the |
|
|
pinnacle of success by winning the 2018 University Interscholastic |
|
|
League 1A state championship on November 15 at the Curtis Culwell |
|
|
Center in Garland; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Following an impressive performance in the regular |
|
|
season, the Lady Tigers advanced through the playoffs with wins |
|
|
over High Island, Oakwood, Avery, and Cumby Miller Grove High |
|
|
Schools to become one of the final four teams in the 1A state |
|
|
tournament; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After defeating Bryson High School in the |
|
|
semifinals, Neches faced off against Water Valley High School in |
|
|
the finale; the Lady Tigers triumphed over their opponents in three |
|
|
straight games, capturing the school's first state volleyball crown |
|
|
and capping an outstanding season with an overall record of 41 |
|
|
victories and just 4 losses; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Neches excelled with a true team effort, receiving |
|
|
vital contributions throughout the season from each member of the |
|
|
roster: Emily Hill, Reagan Gray, Mallory Main, Makenzie Hudson, |
|
|
Nayeli Quistian, Kourtney Mannix, Cara Greve |
|
|
, Gracie Carson, Lexi |
|
|
Rogers, Madison Catchot, Raegan Hill, Morgan Scruggs, and Kacie |
|
|
Kimbrough, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the |
|
|
championship match; the Lady Tigers were ably guided by head coach |
|
|
Morgan Roberson and assistant coach Trent Cook, and they further |
|
|
benefited from the support of manager Gabby Blackmon; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the |
|
|
culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering |
|
|
commitment to excellence, and these talented student-athletes will |
|
|
treasure the memory of this accomplishment for the rest of their |
|
|
lives; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Neches High School volleyball |
|
|
team on winning the 2018 UIL 1A state championship and extend to all |
|
|
those associated with the team sincere best wishes for the future; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Lady Tigers as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
