R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Richard Sutterfield retired from the Arlington |
|
Independent School District in January 2019, drawing to a close |
|
more than three and a half decades of outstanding service; and |
|
WHEREAS, A 1974 graduate of Mansfield High School, |
|
Mr. Sutterfield received a bachelor's degree in health and physical |
|
education from The University of Texas at Arlington in 1981; the |
|
following year, he joined Arlington ISD as a member of the faculty |
|
at Bailey Junior High, where he coached football and track and |
|
taught math, science, and eventually computer literacy; he then |
|
went on to teach computer literacy at Boles Junior High School for |
|
six years; active in the campus community at both schools, he |
|
established computer clubs at Bailey and Boles; and |
|
WHEREAS, After earning a master's degree in educational |
|
leadership and administration from the University of North Texas, |
|
Mr. Sutterfield left Boles to become an instructional specialist |
|
for Arlington ISD, responsible for educating the district's faculty |
|
on ways to integrate technology into the classroom; in 2000, he |
|
accepted a position as manager of the district's help desk, and his |
|
expertise in computer science allowed him to create a help ticket |
|
and asset tracking system that the district used for two decades; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Sutterfield has enjoyed |
|
the love and support of his wife, Martha, with whom he has shared 35 |
|
years, and he takes great pride in his four children, Danielle, |
|
Adam, Lukas, and Abby, and his eight grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Richard Sutterfield's dedication, professionalism, |
|
and commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of |
|
Arlington, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well |
|
spent; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Richard Sutterfield on his |
|
retirement from the Arlington Independent School District and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Sutterfield as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
