R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Dental Association are |
|
|
gathering in Austin on February 20, 2019, to celebrate Texas Dental |
|
|
Association Legislative Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This notable organization has more than 9,100 |
|
|
members and is the third-largest state dental association in the |
|
|
United States; with a mission to be the "Voice of Dentistry in |
|
|
Texas," it represents the oral health care providers in our state |
|
|
and advocates the highest standards for the profession; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The association was chartered on May 17, 1871, and |
|
|
it began publishing the Texas Dental Journal, the oldest |
|
|
continuously operating dental periodical in the Western |
|
|
Hemisphere, in 1883; following a study by the association on the |
|
|
regulation of dental practice in Texas, the first law regulating |
|
|
dental practice was passed by the Texas Legislature in 1889; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Deeply committed to promoting high-quality oral |
|
|
health care for all Texans, the Texas Dental Association has made a |
|
|
positive and lasting difference in the Lone Star State, and the |
|
|
organization's members are indeed deserving of special |
|
|
commendation for their efforts and achievements; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize February 20, 2019, as Texas Dental |
|
|
Association Legislative Day at the State Capitol and extend to all |
|
|
those associated with the organization sincere best wishes for an |
|
|
enjoyable and informative visit to Austin. |
