R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Garland Scottish Rite Club has played an
  important role in the local community for many decades, and its
  efforts are indeed deserving of special recognition; and
         WHEREAS, Since the early 1960s, the club has given
  scholarships to students from the Garland Independent School
  District, awarding nearly $200,000 to well over 200 college-bound
  Texans over the years; the club has further supported public
  education through a recognition program for Garland ISD personnel;
  and
         WHEREAS, The Garland Scottish Rite Club is dedicated to
  helping those in need of medical care; it supports Hope Clinic
  Garland, and it hosts blood drives throughout the year for patients
  of the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, one of the
  nation's leading pediatric orthopedic hospitals, which provides
  treatment without regard to a family's ability to pay; and
         WHEREAS, The members of this noteworthy organization have
  demonstrated a profound commitment to the benevolent mission of the
  Scottish Rite of Freemasonry by following the principles of
  brotherly love, tolerance, charity, and truth, and their heartfelt
  contributions have made a positive difference in the lives of
  innumerable people in Garland and beyond; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Garland Scottish Rite Club and extend
  to the group's members sincere best wishes for continued success in
  all their endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
