R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Ellen Jordan retired from the Texas A&M AgriLife
  Extension Service on April 30, 2018, drawing to a close a notable
  career in agricultural science that has spanned more than three and
  a half decades; and
         WHEREAS, After earning her bachelor's degree in animal
  science and agricultural journalism from Iowa State University in
  1976, Dr. Jordan went on to earn a master's degree and a Ph.D. in
  animal science at Oregon State University; from 1981 to 1991, she
  was an extension dairy specialist at West Virginia University; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Jordan joined Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in
  1991 as a researcher and educator, and over the past 27 years, she
  has been an invaluable resource to countless dairy producers and
  their employees across the Lone Star State; her contributions have
  resulted in numerous improvements in the industry, including the
  reduction of heat stress on cows, an increase in reproductive
  efficiency, and the introduction of new technology; and
         WHEREAS, A leading expert in the dairy industry, Dr. Jordan
  has advised the Texas Association of Dairymen, and she has held
  official positions with the American Dairy Science Association; she
  has been secretary/treasurer of the Texas Animal Nutrition Council,
  worked with the American Registry of Professional Animal
  Scientists, and served as president of the American College of
  Veterinary Nutrition; moreover, she helped found the Dairy Cattle
  Reproduction Council, and she has been the vice chair of the
  Southern Great Plains Dairy Consortium; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Jordan's many professional accolades include
  the DeLaval Dairy Extension Award from the American Dairy Science
  Association, a Distinguished Achievement Award for Extension,
  Outreach, Continuing Education, and Professional Development from
  Texas A&M and the Association of Former Students, and the Vice
  Chancellor's Award of Excellence; at the World Ag Expo in 2010, she
  was named Outstanding Dairy Industry Educator/Researcher of the
  Year; and
         WHEREAS, For nearly 30 years, Dr. Jordan's expertise and
  dedication have greatly benefited the dairy producers of Texas and
  have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues, and
  she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Ellen Jordan on her retirement
  from the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Jordan as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
