R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of People's Missionary Baptist Church in
  Dallas are joining together on April 12, 2019, to honor Pastor
  S. M. Wright II for 24 years of dedicated service to their
  congregation; and
         WHEREAS, Pastor Wright assumed the pulpit at People's
  Missionary Baptist Church from his father, the late Reverend
  Sylvester Wright Sr., who led the house of worship from 1957 until
  his passing in 1994; since 1995, the younger Pastor Wright has
  devoted himself to advancing the church's mission and guiding its
  congregation, which today numbers more than 2,000 members; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed clergyman has further benefited his
  community as cofounder and president of the S. M. Wright
  Foundation; established in 1998, the nonprofit organization seeks
  to support children and families in need in the Dallas/Fort Worth
  area; to that end, it provides assistance through hunger relief,
  education, health and social services, and economic empowerment,
  and it also sponsors a host of noteworthy events, including the
  Thanksgiving Day Giveaway and Christmas in the Park; and
         WHEREAS, Through his far-reaching spiritual and civic
  endeavors, Pastor S. M. Wright II has made a lasting and positive
  difference in many lives, and the occasion of his 24th pastoral
  anniversary provides a welcome opportunity to recognize his
  outstanding record of service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor S. M. Wright II on his 24th anniversary as
  pastor of People's Missionary Baptist Church and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued success in his important work;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Pastor Wright as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
