R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, With his fine showing at the 50th annual Association |
|
of 2018 College Unions International Clay Target Collegiate |
|
Championships, Cory Hays helped Schreiner University claim the |
|
Division II national championship; and |
|
WHEREAS, Competing at the National Shooting Complex in San |
|
Antonio on March 31, Mr. Hays and his fellow Mountaineers shattered |
|
a total of 2,457 clay targets out of 2,600 and secured the national |
|
title after a shoot-off against Clemson University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Hays first took up the sport as a member of the |
|
Stonewall County 4-H Club; in 2017, he was selected as an alternate |
|
to represent the Lone Star State in the 4-H National Shooting |
|
Championships in Nebraska, where Texas brought home the title; the |
|
son of Terry and Kathy Hays, he graduated from the Aspermont |
|
Independent School District in 2017 as the class salutatorian; and |
|
WHEREAS, To perform at the highest level in national |
|
competition requires not only skill and talent but also exceptional |
|
dedication, and Cory Hays may indeed reflect with pride on this |
|
outstanding achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Cory Hays for his contributions to |
|
Schreiner University's victory at the 2018 ACUI Clay Target |
|
Collegiate Championships and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Hays as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
