R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center |
|
|
Society are gathering in Austin on March 28, 2019, for Ambulatory |
|
|
Surgery Center Awareness Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An alternative to hospitalization for acute care, |
|
|
ambulatory surgery centers perform outpatient procedures that |
|
|
enable individuals to check out the same day and recover in the |
|
|
comfort of their own home; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, There are currently over 400 ambulatory surgery |
|
|
centers licensed for operation by the Texas Department of State |
|
|
Health Services; these locations employ more than 7,300 health care |
|
|
professionals, treat hundreds of thousands of patients each year, |
|
|
and have an estimated economic impact of nearly $1.7 billion; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By providing quality medical care at a comparatively |
|
|
low cost, ambulatory surgery centers are helping to ensure the |
|
|
health and well-being of Texas residents, and these facilities are |
|
|
indeed deserving of recognition for the important role they play in |
|
|
the state's health care system; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 28, 2019, as Ambulatory Surgery |
|
|
Center Awareness Day at the State Capitol and commend the Texas |
|
|
Ambulatory Surgery Center Society for its work; and, be it further |
|
|
|
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the society as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
