R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A life dedicated to faith and family drew to a close |
|
with the passing of Mary Evelyn Cooke Patman of Waxahachie on March |
|
20, 2019, at the age of 86; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on August 16, 1932, in Ellis County to Frank and |
|
Una Cooke, the former Mary Cooke grew up as one of 12 children in a |
|
close-knit Christian family; she was joined in matrimony to Donald |
|
Patman on October 20, 1950, and together, they shared in the joy of |
|
raising two adopted children, Steve and Lori; later in life, the |
|
couple experienced the delight of welcoming six grandchildren and |
|
six great-grandchildren into their circle of loved ones; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Patman was a devoted wife and mother and a |
|
woman of many gifts; she was an excellent cook and seamstress, and |
|
she spent numerous hours developing her artistic talents and |
|
creating beautiful paintings; moreover, she was an active member of |
|
the Brown Street Church of Christ in Waxahachie, where her husband |
|
served as an elder, and she supported the congregation by teaching |
|
Bible classes, vacation Bible school, and summer youth camps and by |
|
participating in mission trips; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although she is greatly missed, Mary Patman has left |
|
her family and friends with a wealth of cherished memories, and she |
|
will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mary Evelyn Cooke |
|
Patman and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to |
|
her husband, Donald Patman; to her children, Steve Patman and his |
|
wife, Joyce, and Lori Vantreese; to her grandchildren, Dustin |
|
Patman and his wife, Melinda, Stephanie Cochran and her husband, |
|
Andrew, Donald "Chase" Patman and his wife, Ashlei, Lyndsay Cannon, |
|
Cecile Vantreese, and Erin Allen; to her great-grandchildren, Tatum |
|
and Stevey Marshall, Corbett and Piper Cochran, Culver Patman, and |
|
Zane Cannon; to her brothers, Ralph Cooke and his wife, Juanita, |
|
Wendell Cooke and his wife, Marva, and Billy Joe Cooke and his wife, |
|
Evelyn; to her sisters, Larue Dyess and Betty Venable and her |
|
husband, Sonny; and to her many other relatives and friends; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary |
|
Patman. |
