R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |
|
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Melvin and Sarah Long |
|
of Childress celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on |
|
August 24, 2018; and |
|
WHEREAS, High school sweethearts, Melvin Matthew Long and the |
|
former Sarah Ann Holland were joined in matrimony in 1968 at the |
|
First United Methodist Church in their hometown of Estelline; over |
|
the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that |
|
includes their children, Staci Fair and her husband, Mike, Melanie |
|
Cummins and her husband, Todd, and Donna Smith and her husband, |
|
Marty, as well as their grandchildren, Matthew and Marcilete Fair, |
|
Jacob and Jared Cummins, and Michael and Cole Smith; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Long previously resided in Lubbock and |
|
later returned to Estelline, where they lived for many years before |
|
making their home in Childress; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed couple have enjoyed five decades of |
|
abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an |
|
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|
commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Melvin and Sarah Long on their |
|
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |
|
for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Long as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
