R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and enthusiasm drew to a close |
|
with the passing of Catherine M. Carson of Ozona on March 5, 2019, |
|
at the age of 72; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Henry and LaVaun Miller, Cathy |
|
Carson was born on January 26, 1947, in Austin; her father worked in |
|
the petroleum engineering field, and she grew up traveling the |
|
world with her parents and her sister, Julia, living in Austin, |
|
Dallas, Venezuela, New York, Louisiana, and ultimately Ozona; after |
|
graduating from Ozona High School in 1966, she earned a bachelor's |
|
degree in home economics from Texas Woman's University; and |
|
WHEREAS, On June 8, 1968, Mrs. Carson was joined in matrimony |
|
to Bill Carson at the Ozona United Methodist Church, and the couple |
|
shared a rewarding marriage that spanned more than five decades; |
|
she was the proud mother of three daughters, Julie, Haley, and |
|
Amanda, and with the passing years, she had the pleasure of watching |
|
her family grow to include five grandchildren, Abbey, Haley, |
|
Chelsey, Carson, and Logan; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Carson was a teacher at Ozona High School for a |
|
time, and she worked in retail at The Teacher Store and Tedford |
|
Jewelry; she went on to enjoy a career as the court administrator |
|
for the 112th District Court, where she remained for 18 years until |
|
her retirement in January 2014; and |
|
WHEREAS, A valued member of her community, Mrs. Carson served |
|
as president of Ozona Women's League and the Crockett County Public |
|
Library Board, and as copresident of the Crockett County Museum; |
|
she also contributed to her church in her role as the chair of the |
|
hospitality committee; known for her love of weddings, babies, and |
|
parties, she delighted in any reason to celebrate with family and |
|
friends; and |
|
WHEREAS, While her loss is difficult to bear, Cathy Carson |
|
leaves behind many loved ones whose lives are far richer for having |
|
known her, and she will always hold a treasured place in their |
|
hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Catherine M. Carson |
|
and extend sincere condolences to her relatives and many friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cathy |
|
Carson. |
