R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Anthony J. Snipes, the city manager of Missouri |
|
City, was installed as president and chair of the National Forum for |
|
Black Public Administrators on April 6, 2019; and |
|
WHEREAS, A highly regarded municipal administrator, |
|
Mr. Snipes has built a proven record of leadership and gained a |
|
wealth of knowledge from his tenure in Missouri City as well as from |
|
his previous positions in Austin, Fort Worth, and Dayton, Ohio; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Snipes became the chief administrative officer |
|
for Missouri City in December 2015; in the years since, he has |
|
overseen the city's more than 350 full-time employees and a |
|
combined annual budget of nearly $140 million; he counts among his |
|
many accomplishments the creation of the Missouri City Parks |
|
Foundation, the introduction of the High Performance Organization |
|
Framework system to efficiently manage the city's workforce, and |
|
the launch of such important initiatives as Voice2Vision, the |
|
Community Walk and Ride Tour, and the Nuisance Abatement Team; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to fulfilling his duties as city |
|
manager, Mr. Snipes has held leadership roles with a number of |
|
civic organizations, including the Texas City Management |
|
Association and the Institute for Building Technology and Safety; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Snipes holds a bachelor's degree in political |
|
science and sociology from Mercer University and a master's degree |
|
in public administration from Florida State University; in all his |
|
endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Dr. Tracie |
|
Snipes, and he takes great pride in their two children; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his dedication and expertise, Anthony |
|
Snipes has made a positive and lasting difference in the lives of |
|
countless Texans, and the experience he has acquired over the years |
|
will serve him well as he takes on this challenging new role; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Anthony J. Snipes on his |
|
installation as president and chair of the National Forum for Black |
|
Public Administrators and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Snipes as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
