R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Back on My Feet Austin is hosting its annual gala and
  auction at the JW Marriott on April 18, 2019; and
         WHEREAS, A national nonprofit organization operating in 12
  cities across the United States, Back on My Feet helps individuals
  who are homeless by involving them in a unique initiative that
  encourages fitness and provides assistance in finding employment
  and housing; participants begin by running three times a week with a
  group of peers and volunteers in an effort to build confidence,
  strength, and self-esteem; after taking part in the running regimen
  for a month, members move to the next stage of the program, which
  includes educational support, job training and referrals, housing
  assistance, and financial aid; and
         WHEREAS, First founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in
  2007, Back on My Feet opened its Austin chapter in 2013; since its
  inception, the organization has seen 70 percent of its members
  nationwide successfully move their lives forward, with thousands of
  participants earning jobs, finding housing, or completing further
  education and training programs; and
         WHEREAS, Back on My Feet is making a lasting and positive
  difference in the lives of some our nation's most vulnerable
  residents, and the Austin chapter is playing an important role in
  addressing homelessness in Central Texas; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Back on My Feet Austin on the occasion of
  its 2019 gala and auction and commend the organization's members
  and volunteers for their outstanding efforts; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Back on My Feet Austin as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
