R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Centenarian Jack Tolbert of Keller is celebrating
  his 80th year as a pilot in 2019; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, on August 16,
  1918, Mr. Tolbert learned to fly in 1939 as a member of the
  U.S. government's Civilian Pilot Training Program; the following
  year, he became a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving as an
  instructor for other young pilots; and
         WHEREAS, After leaving the military, Mr. Tolbert worked as a
  commercial pilot for American Airlines, and he rose to the rank of
  captain before retiring in 1978; he then went on to serve as
  director of training and procedures for Southwest Airlines; and
         WHEREAS, Well into his 100th year, this dynamic gentleman
  continues to fly regularly in his Piper Cherokee aircraft; he is one
  of the world's oldest active pilots; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Tolbert enjoys the love
  and support of his wife, Velma Guy, as well as that of his three
  sons, Scott, Dale, and Morgan; and
         WHEREAS, Jack Tolbert is an inspiration to people of all ages
  for his skill, his joie de vivre, and his boundless energy, and he
  is indeed deserving of special recognition at this time; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jack Tolbert on his 80th
  anniversary as a pilot and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness and blue skies; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Tolbert as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
