R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Ben Dixon received well-deserved recognition when |
|
|
he was presented with an Excellence in Secondary Teaching Award at |
|
|
the Plano Independent School District 2018 Teacher of the Year |
|
|
Gala; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A science teacher at Bird Special Programs Center, |
|
|
Ben Dixon joined the faculty in 2014; he works tirelessly to help |
|
|
middle school students advance academically and overcome |
|
|
challenges with behavior, self-esteem, and other issues; providing |
|
|
extra tutoring and support as needed, he is a caring mentor and |
|
|
strong role model, and he often remains in contact with parents even |
|
|
after their children have gone on to other schools; he also serves |
|
|
as coordinator of the accelerated learning program and as middle |
|
|
school team leader, and he is a member of the Core Team and of many |
|
|
district-wide committees; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ben Dixon exemplifies the passion, determination, |
|
|
and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, |
|
|
and he has set a standard of excellence to which all in his |
|
|
profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Ben Dixon on his receipt of a 2018 |
|
|
Plano ISD Excellence in Secondary Teaching Award and extend to him |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Dixon as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
