R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Tasha Mills received well-deserved recognition with
  her selection as the 2017-2018 Secondary Teacher of the Year for the
  Allen Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, Each year, Allen ISD and the Foundation for Allen
  Schools pay tribute to exceptional educators with the Teacher of
  the Year Awards; Ms. Mills was first selected as the campus honoree
  at Lowery Freshman Center and then was chosen as the Secondary
  Teacher of the Year for the entire district; this prestigious
  accolade includes a $500 cash award and gifts and prizes donated by
  community partners; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Mills has gained 17 years of experience as an
  educator, and for the past nine years, she has benefited the
  students of Allen ISD as a biology teacher at Allen High School and
  Lowery Freshman Center; and
         WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to
  become successful and productive adults, and those men and women
  who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference
  in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and
         WHEREAS, Tasha Mills exemplifies the passion, determination,
  and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers,
  and she has set a standard of excellence to which all in her
  profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Tasha Mills on her selection as the
  Allen Independent School District 2017-2018 Secondary Teacher of
  the Year and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success
  in her important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Mills as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
