R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Connor Sears of Gold-Burg High School distinguished |
|
himself with his outstanding performance at The Vegas Shoot 2019, |
|
held February 8 through 10 at the South Point Hotel and Casino in |
|
Las Vegas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Known as the world's largest and most prestigious |
|
indoor archery tournament, The Vegas Shoot attracts archers from |
|
all 50 states and 50 countries around the globe; the 2019 event |
|
boasted a record number of 3,767 participants, along with more than |
|
6,000 spectators; and |
|
WHEREAS, During three days of qualifying competition, |
|
Mr. Sears shot a perfect score of 900, becoming only the third |
|
person in the young adult amateur division to achieve such a feat in |
|
the event's 53-year history; the compound archery championship |
|
contest came down to a hard-fought shootout in which Mr. Sears |
|
turned in a valiant effort but ultimately fell to his opponent, |
|
finishing second overall; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of David and Pam Sears, Mr. Sears is |
|
currently a senior at Gold-Burg High; following his graduation, he |
|
plans to attend Texas A&M University, where he will shoot for the |
|
school's archery team; and |
|
WHEREAS, Demonstrating superlative skill and accuracy at The |
|
Vegas Shoot 2019, Connor Sears has brought great pride to his |
|
family, his community, and the Lone Star State, and it is indeed |
|
fitting to recognize his notable achievements; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Connor Sears on his exemplary |
|
showing at The Vegas Shoot 2019 and extend to him sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Sears as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
