R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dorcas Seals, a school counselor at Barbara Jordan |
|
Early College Prep in Austin, has distinguished herself throughout |
|
her 20-year career in the fields of social work and mental health; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Seals earned her bachelor's degree in social |
|
work from Prairie View A&M University and her master's degree in |
|
social work from Texas State University; over the past two decades, |
|
she has acquired experience working at Austin State Hospital and at |
|
Integral Care, which she also served as a trustee; and |
|
WHEREAS, Before becoming a school counselor, Ms. Seals was a |
|
member of various committees within the Austin Independent School |
|
District; a dedicated volunteer and civic leader, she has been a |
|
member of the City of Austin Community Development Commission and |
|
the Community Action Network; she is also active in the Delta Beta |
|
Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., and she currently sponsors the |
|
sorority's Xinos youth group; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Seals has enjoyed the love |
|
and support of her husband, Timmie Seals, with whom she has shared |
|
32 years of marriage; and |
|
WHEREAS, Admired by all who know her, Dorcas Seals may indeed |
|
reflect with satisfaction on her accomplishments and on the many |
|
contributions she has made in behalf of her fellow citizens; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Dorcas Seals for her 20-year career in |
|
social work and mental health and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|
for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Seals as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
