R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |
|
memories of Real County Sheriff Bruce Carr, who died on April 8, |
|
2017, at the age of 60; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on May 2, 1956, to Jon and Helen Carr, Bruce |
|
Carr grew up with two sisters, Lyndy and Terry; he shared a |
|
rewarding marriage with his wife, Lana, and he was the proud father |
|
of two daughters, Michelle and Ashley; later in life, he |
|
experienced the joy of welcoming into his family two grandchildren, |
|
Amelia and Weston; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Carr devoted his life to preserving the peace; |
|
after serving in the U.S. Army as a military police officer, he |
|
enjoyed an exemplary 33-year career with the Harris County |
|
Sheriff's Department, starting as a motorcycle patrol officer and |
|
rising to the rank of detective; he also distinguished himself as a |
|
vital member of an FBI task force on human trafficking; and |
|
WHEREAS, After retiring to Leakey, Mr. Carr joined the Real |
|
County Sheriff's Department as a deputy, and when the previous |
|
sheriff retired, he was appointed as county sheriff in January 2015 |
|
and served until his passing; in addition to his professional |
|
responsibilities, he contributed to the community as an active |
|
member of American Legion Post No. 489, Leakey United Methodist |
|
Church, the Frio Canyon Chamber of Commerce, and the Friends of the |
|
Library; moreover, he was the master of Leakey Masonic Lodge |
|
No. 622; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Carr delighted in the time he spent outdoors, |
|
hunting hogs and coyotes or fishing; he especially enjoyed |
|
traveling and taking cruises with his wife; and |
|
WHEREAS, A loving family man and a dedicated peace officer, |
|
Bruce Carr is deeply missed, but the integrity, compassion, and |
|
devotion to duty with which he lived his life will forever inspire |
|
all those who had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Sheriff Bruce Carr |
|
and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many friends; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bruce Carr. |
