H.R. No. 1508

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Dorcas Seals, a school counselor at Barbara Jordan Early College Prep in Austin, has distinguished herself throughout her 20-year career in the fields of social work and mental health; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Seals earned her bachelo r's degree in social work from Prairie View A&M University and her master's degree in social work from Texas State University; over the past two decades, she has acquired experience working at Austin State Hospital and at Integral Care, which she also served as a trustee; and

WHEREAS, Before becoming a school counselor, Mrs. Seals was a member of various committees within the Austin Independent School District; a dedicated volunteer and civic leader, she has been a member of the City of Austin Community Development Commission and the Community Action Network; she is also active in the Delta Beta Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., and she currently sponsors the sorority's Xinos youth group; and

WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Seals has enjoyed the love and support of her husband, Timmie Seals, with whom she has shared 32 years of marriage; and

WHEREAS, Admired by all who know her, Dorcas Seals may indeed reflect with satisfaction on her accomplishments and on the many contributions she has made in behalf of her fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas Legislature hereby honor Dorcas Seals for her 20-year career in social work and mental health and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Seals as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
