R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, No words can soften the pain of losing a loved one, |
|
but memories of a life well lived may help to comfort those saddened |
|
by the death of Hilda Duran Tirres of El Paso on January 6, 2019, at |
|
the age of 88; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, the former Hilda Duran was born |
|
on October 4, 1930; she attended Ysleta High School, where she was |
|
named Who's Who in PE in the school yearbook and exhibited great |
|
musical talent as a member of the band and the drum corps; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Tirres enjoyed the love and support of her |
|
husband, Ramon, whom she had known since childhood, and they shared |
|
a rewarding marriage that spanned more than six decades; she took |
|
great pride in their children, Anna, Ramon, Daisy, Rene, and |
|
Suzanne, and with the passing years she had the pleasure of seeing |
|
her family grow to include 10 grandchildren and 11 |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, Mrs. Tirres was a devoted |
|
congregant and volunteer at her church; she worked as the secretary |
|
at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School and later served in a |
|
number of roles with San Elizario Independent School District; in |
|
addition, she was instrumental in the operation of her family's |
|
farm, and in her leisure hours, she delighted in cheering on the |
|
Dallas Cowboys; and |
|
WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to her family and her faith, Hilda |
|
Tirres earned the lasting respect and admiration of all who were |
|
privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Hilda Duran Tirres and |
|
extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her |
|
husband, Ramon Tirres Sr.; to her children, Anna Fuentes and her |
|
husband, Jesus, Suzanne Horan, Ramon Tirres Jr. and his wife, Rita, |
|
and Rene Tirres and his wife, Sandra; to her grandchildren and |
|
great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hilda |
|
Tirres. |
