H.R. No. 1511

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, RJ Hampton of Little Elm High School has been named the 2018-2019 Gatorade State Boys Basketball Player of the Year for Texas; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1985, the Gatorade Player of the Year awards honor the nation's most outstanding high school student athletes for their athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character; and

WHEREAS, A star guard for the Little Elm Lobos, Mr. Hampton averaged 32 points, 6.4 assists, and 9.7 rebounds a game during the 2018-2019 campaign; he is the first junior since 2013 to garner the Texas Gatorade accolade for boys' basketball, and he was also one of three finalists for the Gatorade National Player of the Year honor; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hampton is ranked as Texas' top 2020 collegiate recruit in the 247Sports Composite Rating; his numerous high school awards include selection as the 2018 Texas Association of Basketball Coaches 5A Player of the Year, and he has twice been named the district most valuable player; and

WHEREAS, This talented young Texan has distinguished himself as one of the top high school basketball players in the nation, and he may indeed take justifiable pride in his accomplishments as he looks ahead to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate RJ Hampton on being named the 2018-2019 Gatorade State Boys Basketball Player of the Year for Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Hampton as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
