R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The city of Edinburg lost a beloved resident with
  the passing of Luis Antonio Alamia Jr. on November 1, 2018, at the
  age of 76; and
         WHEREAS, Luis Alamia was born in Edinburg to Luis and Adelina
  Alamia, and he grew up with the companionship of five siblings,
  Sylvia, Richard, Rudy, Linda, and Maria; a 1961 graduate of
  Edinburg High School, he attended New Mexico Highlands University,
  where he played baseball and set a national record for stolen bases;
  he subsequently studied at Pan American College, and he played
  semiprofessional baseball for a number of years; and
         WHEREAS, Following his career as an athlete, Mr. Alamia
  served as a coach for Edinburg High School, and he went on to hold
  the position of assistant principal at Edinburg High and later at
  Edinburg North High School, from which he retired in 2013 after
  nearly five decades in education; he was honored with induction
  into the Rio Grande Valley Sports Hall of Fame in 2010; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Alamia enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife of 38 years, Marcy Montelongo Alamia; he was
  the proud father of two children, Luis Alamia and Amy Anzaldua, and
  he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include three
  grandchildren, Tristan, Abram, and Serenity; furthermore, he was a
  valued parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church; and
         WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Luis Alamia
  leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far
  richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured
  place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Luis Antonio Alamia
  Jr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to those who mourn his passing;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Luis
  Alamia.
