R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Trinity School of Midland girls' golf team once |
|
again proved itself one of the finest in the Lone Star State by |
|
winning the 2019 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools |
|
4A state championship on April 30 in Waco; and |
|
WHEREAS, In a season-long display of golfing skill, the Lady |
|
Chargers won five of six events in the spring and collected district |
|
and regional titles; they took that momentum into the state |
|
tournament, shooting a two-day score of 607 to crush their |
|
competition on the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course; finishing atop the |
|
leaderboard by the impressively wide margin of 222 strokes, Trinity |
|
closed out an exceptional campaign by clinching its third |
|
consecutive state team trophy; and |
|
WHEREAS, All five of Trinity's golfers placed in the top 10, |
|
and the team was led by Alexandra Escamilla and Jules Crow, who were |
|
tied at 144 after regulation play and went on to earn respective |
|
gold and silver medals in a playoff duel; also contributing to the |
|
Lady Chargers' triumphant performance were Aspen Escamilla, who |
|
shot 148 and finished fourth, Brooke Widner, who tallied 171 for |
|
fifth place, and Courtney Evans, who carded 200 and claimed 10th; |
|
these determined student-athletes were ably guided by head coach |
|
Neil Dufford and assistant coach Kris Crow; and |
|
WHEREAS, Winning three consecutive state championships is a |
|
rare feat that requires countless hours of hard work and an |
|
unwavering commitment to excellence, and the members of the Lady |
|
Chargers golf team may reflect with pride on a job well done; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Trinity School of Midland |
|
girls' golf team on winning the 2019 TAPPS 4A state championship and |
|
extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best |
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
