R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Sunrise Mall in Brownsville is celebrating the 40th |
|
anniversary of its founding in 2019; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1979, Sunrise Mall was purchased 20 |
|
years later by the Dillard's Corporation in association with The |
|
MGHerring Group; a construction and expansion project included a |
|
new food court, a movie theater, JCPenney and Dillard's department |
|
stores, and Sunrise Commons; in 2003, Dillard's sold its share of |
|
the mall to CBL & Associates Properties; in recent years, the |
|
company has made a number of renovations, and a Dick's Sporting |
|
Goods and an H&M were added; and |
|
WHEREAS, Today the 801,392 square-foot enclosed shopping |
|
center has an anchor lineup that includes Sears, Bealls, and a |
|
Cinemark theater in addition to Dillard's, JCPenney, and Dick's |
|
Sporting Goods; the mall also features more than 100 specialty |
|
shops, an indoor carousel, and a diverse selection of restaurants; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Sunrise Mall has contributed significantly to the |
|
prosperity and vibrancy of the Brownsville area, and it is fitting |
|
that this notable enterprise be recognized for the valued service |
|
it has provided to the community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 40th anniversary of Sunrise Mall |
|
and extend to all those associated with the center sincere best |
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Sunrise Mall as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
