R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Dallas-based regional Mexican band La Energía |
|
Norteña is celebrating the seventh anniversary of its founding in |
|
2019; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in 2012 by Adrian Zamarripa and Moises |
|
Cuevas, La Energía Norteña reflects their love of Norteño saxophone |
|
music; that same year, the six-member group won a talent contest and |
|
later garnered a recording contract with Azteca Music Group and |
|
released its first album, Pensando en Ti; and |
|
WHEREAS, The band began touring the U.S. and Mexico, reaching |
|
a young audience and reenergizing the Norteño genre with a fusion of |
|
traditional sounds and contemporary rhythms; in 2015, its album |
|
Cruzando Territorio earned a Latin Grammy nomination and yielded a |
|
Top 20 hit, "El Amor de Mi Vida," which has become its signature |
|
song; it received a second Latin Grammy nomination in 2018 for "El |
|
Sueño Americano," in the Best Regional Song category; its most |
|
recent album, El Crossover, includes new interpretations of a wide |
|
variety of English-language pop and country hits; and |
|
WHEREAS, While advancing its career, the group has also |
|
sought to benefit those in need; it donated proceeds from a November |
|
2018 concert in San Antonio to St. Jude Children's Research |
|
Hospital, and it has since focused on even more substantial |
|
fund-raising for the organization; and |
|
WHEREAS, La Energía Norteña has brought joy to countless |
|
fans, and as it works to build an even larger audience, it is indeed |
|
a pleasure to recognize its accomplishments to date; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate La Energía Norteña on its seventh |
|
anniversary and extend to the members sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
