R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Kimberly Collins of the Ann Richards School for |
|
Young Women Leaders has been named the 2019 Middle School Teacher of |
|
the Year in the Austin Independent School District; and |
|
WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |
|
become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|
who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |
|
in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Collins holds 15 years of experience in |
|
educational instruction and currently serves as an eighth-grade |
|
math teacher; she is well regarded for her use of technology and |
|
cutting-edge learning strategies to improve student engagement, |
|
and she was inspired by the Cities in Space competition to design a |
|
unit for her students to model the establishment of sustainable |
|
colonies outside of Earth; the project has expanded into an |
|
interdisciplinary unit that encompasses numerous subjects, from |
|
STEM to the arts; and |
|
WHEREAS, Kimberly Collins exemplifies the passion, |
|
determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |
|
best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all |
|
in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Kimberly Collins on her selection |
|
as the 2019 Middle School Teacher of the Year in Austin ISD and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her |
|
important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Collins as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
