R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Kimberly Collins of the Ann Richards School for
  Young Women Leaders has been named the 2019 Middle School Teacher of
  the Year in the Austin Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to
  become successful and productive adults, and those men and women
  who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference
  in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Collins holds 15 years of experience in
  educational instruction and currently serves as an eighth-grade
  math teacher; she is well regarded for her use of technology and
  cutting-edge learning strategies to improve student engagement,
  and she was inspired by the Cities in Space competition to design a
  unit for her students to model the establishment of sustainable
  colonies outside of Earth; the project has expanded into an
  interdisciplinary unit that encompasses numerous subjects, from
  STEM to the arts; and
         WHEREAS, Kimberly Collins exemplifies the passion,
  determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
  best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all
  in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Kimberly Collins on her selection
  as the 2019 Middle School Teacher of the Year in Austin ISD and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her
  important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Collins as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
