R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Bonny Cain has been named as the new
  superintendent of the Waxahachie Independent School District, and
  her appointment represents a significant milestone in the career of
  this veteran educator; and
         WHEREAS, After serving as Waxahachie ISD's interim
  superintendent since September 2018, Dr. Cain was selected as sole
  finalist for the permanent position on May 2, 2019, by unanimous
  vote of the district's board of trustees; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Cain began her exemplary four-decade career as a
  second grade teacher with Bay City ISD in 1977, and she went on to
  spend 25 years as a teacher and administrator with Pearland ISD,
  including 11 years as superintendent from 2000 to 2011; she then
  became superintendent of Waco ISD, overseeing the education of
  15,000 students across 26 campuses until her retirement in 2017;
  and
         WHEREAS, This skilled administrator holds two master's
  degrees, and she earned her doctorate in education from the
  University of Houston; an accomplished writer and speaker, she has
  served on the boards of the Texas School Alliance, the TEA State
  Board for Educator Certification, the Texas Middle School
  Association, and the Texas Academic Decathlon organization; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Cain's dedication, professionalism, and
  expertise have greatly benefited the students of each district she
  has served and earned her the respect and admiration of her peers,
  and she may indeed reflect with pride on her many achievements as
  she takes on the challenges and opportunities of her new position;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Bonny Cain on her appointment
  as superintendent of the Waxahachie Independent School District and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in her
  important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Cain as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
