R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in Houston, a vital
  component of the Harris Health System, is celebrating the 30th
  anniversary of its founding on June 2, 2019; and
         WHEREAS, LBJ hospital opened its doors to the community on
  June 2, 1989, as the replacement for Harris Health's Jefferson
  Davis Hospital; during its first two days of operation, 200
  patients were transferred to the newly opened facility, an
  undertaking that required months of planning; and
         WHEREAS, The first Level III Trauma Center designated in
  Texas, the hospital remains one of the busiest trauma centers in the
  state, with 86,000 emergency patient visits in 2018; one of the few
  full-service hospitals in the northeast area of the city, the
  facility provides an array of specialized medical and surgical
  services, and it has earned the distinction of being a regional
  center for neonatal intensive care for high-risk deliveries and
  very low birth weight infants; and
         WHEREAS, The hospital's dedicated administrators and staff
  continue to strengthen its collaborations with its world-renowned
  medical partners, the McGovern Medical School at The University of
  Texas Health Science Center at Houston and the UT MD Anderson Cancer
  Center; it is recognized as one of the best community-focused
  academic hospitals in the nation, and it has been further honored
  with designations as a Regional Center for Neonatal Intensive Care,
  a Texas 10 Step Facility, and a Baby-Friendly Facility, as well as a
  Pathway to Excellence Hospital; and
         WHEREAS, Staying true to the Harris Health System's mission
  to provide quality care to those most in need, LBJ Hospital has
  rendered exceptional service to the residents of Northeast Houston
  and Harris County, and it truly merits special recognition on the
  occasion of this milestone year; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 30th anniversary of Lyndon B.
  Johnson Hospital and extend to all those associated with the
  institution sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for LBJ Hospital as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
