R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Laura Spear of Vines High School has been honored
  with a 2019 Secondary Excellence in Teaching award by the Plano
  Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to
  become successful and productive adults, and those men and women
  who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference
  in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and
         WHEREAS, A Plano native, Ms. Spear has spent the entirety of
  her 13-year teaching career at Vines High School, where she is a
  biology teacher and chair of the science department; she is
  committed to helping her students not only learn about the wonders
  of science but also develop their critical thinking skills and
  character, and she has been warmly regarded by her pupils as a
  caring and supportive educator; in addition to her work in the
  classroom, she has been involved in a multitude of committees at
  Vines and has created peer mentoring programs and sponsored many
  student clubs; and
         WHEREAS, Laura Spear exemplifies the passion, determination,
  and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers,
  and she has set a standard of excellence to which all in her
  profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Laura Spear on her receipt of a
  2019 Secondary Excellence in Teaching award from the Plano
  Independent School District and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for continued success with her important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Spear as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
