R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Shannon Massey is joining the Textron Systems
  executive leadership team on May 1, 2019, when she takes over as
  senior vice president and general manager of Lycoming Engines; and
         WHEREAS, One of the world's leading manufacturers of engines
  for general aviation aircraft, Lycoming Engines has been part of
  the Textron family of companies since 1987; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Massey earned her bachelor's degree in chemical
  engineering at Texas A&M University and her master's degree in
  business administration from the Neeley School of Business at Texas
  Christian University; before accepting her position with Lycoming,
  she distinguished herself during her 25-year tenure at Bell Flight,
  where she served as general manager of the company's plant in
  Amarillo before rising to the office of vice president of assembly
  operations; and
         WHEREAS, A leader in her profession, Ms. Massey was appointed
  by Governor Greg Abbott to his Aerospace and Aviation Advisory
  Committee, which helps guide the state's efforts to recruit and
  retain aviation jobs, and she is active with the Society of Women
  Engineers and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her busy professional life,
  Ms. Massey has been active in numerous philanthropic and civic
  endeavors; she has served as a member of the United Way of Amarillo
  and Canyon and the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce board, and she has
  held the post of co-chair of the West Texas A&M University Path to
  125 intellectual resources committee; she is also a supporter of
  St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; and
         WHEREAS, Through her dedication, professionalism, and
  expertise, Shannon Massey has played an important role in the
  aviation industry in Amarillo and throughout Texas and the United
  States, and she may indeed reflect with pride on all that she has
  accomplished as she takes on the challenges and opportunities of
  her new position; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Shannon Massey on her appointment
  as senior vice president and general manager of Lycoming Engines
  and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Massey as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
