R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Mateo Simpson has been named the 2019 Laredo Sector |
|
Youth of the Year by the U.S. Border Patrol; and |
|
WHEREAS, A senior at United High School, Mr. Simpson has |
|
maintained a grade point average of 4.31 and is graduating in the |
|
top 10 percent of his class; during his high school career, he has |
|
been an active member of the National Honor Society, the youth group |
|
at St. Patrick Church, and the National Piano Guild, and he has |
|
competed with the football, basketball, track, and powerlifting |
|
teams; and |
|
WHEREAS, This talented young Texan has benefited his |
|
community through service in a number of organizations, including |
|
the Health Occupations Students of America, Catholic Charities, and |
|
Relay for Life; he has earned the honor of gaining acceptance to |
|
three United States service academies: the U.S. Military Academy, |
|
Air Force Academy, and Naval Academy, the latter of which he plans |
|
to attend this fall; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through hard work and dedication in all his |
|
endeavors, Mateo Simpson has built a strong foundation for |
|
continued achievement, and he is indeed deserving of this most |
|
recent accolade; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mateo Simpson on his selection as |
|
the 2019 Laredo Sector Border Patrol Youth of the Year and extend to |
|
him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Simpson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
